Photo competition details

Photo Competition Rules

• Entries will be judged by Committee members on the night of the End of Season Dinner / AGM.
• Photos must have been taken on a YHA XC Ski Club trip this season.
• Limit of 5 photos per person.
  
  
• There are 6 prizes on offer:
  
  • Best Action
  • Best Scenic
  • Best Artistic
  • Funniest Photo / Best Caption
  • Best Picture for the Season (judged across all the photos in all the categories)
  • Best New Talent (also judged across all categories, but only open to those who haven't won in previous years)
  
  
• Judges determine the best photo within each category.  One of these is then selected as the Best Picture for the Season, and the next best photo from the same category wins the prize in that category.  The winner of the Best New Talent prize is determined from the remaining photos in all categories entered by people who have not previously won a prize in previous years.
• The winning photos will be displayed on the YHA Cross Country Ski Club web site.
• Entries must be submitted to the Club president or secretary by the day before the End of Season Dinner / AGM.
• Photos may be emailed or submitted on USB drives or memory cards (bring your own card reader if you have something unusual).
• Photos must be in jpeg format.
• Photo filenames should include the photographer's name, and the title or caption.
      eg. John Smith - Nice view.jpg
• Photos must be placed in a folder that specifies which of the four main categories it should be judged under, ie. one of Action, Scenic, Artistic, or Funniest
  
• Do not place captions or any other text within the image.  The caption should be part of the filename.

Prizes
Prizes may be awarded for each of the categories, and are usually gift vouchers for outdoor shops.
